Nakuru county Public Service Board has refuted reports in sections of media indicating misappropriation of public funds through unrealistic salary and allowances.
Addressing media in the office, the Board's chair Monica Cherotich said the media reports were biased since they only relied on the Auditor's queries without the response from the Board.
"We are Government officials and there is no way we can pay ourselves. The local daily that carried the story only relied on the auditor's queries and left out our response,"she said.
Her sentiments were echoed by Board member Peter Mbae who also questioned why the auditor did not factor in the response from the board.
According to the media report based on the auditor, over 3.1 million shillings is alleged to have been misappropriated through unrealistic salary and allowances.
