Nakuru Water, Environment and Sanitation executive Richard Rop has advised residents to boil water before drinking and using it to cook.
Speaking to the press at his office, Rop said the move will help curb diseases related to unpurified water.
He observed that the move has been necessitated by the fact that many parts of the county are experiencing water shortages.
Rop noted that locals in Ngata, Kamunyu and some parts of Subukia are facing serious water shortage.
“We want to advise residents to be boiling drinking water to avert outbreak of water based diseases,” he said.
The executive said that the County government has put in place strategies aimed at ensuring local have access to clean tap water.
He said that plans are at an advanced stage to drill boreholes across the county with the aimof curbing perennial water problems.
He added that plans are also underway to harness rain water where by residents will be provide with water tanks for the same.
