A section of Nakuru residents have sharply criticised police laxity over increased insecurity in the country.
The residents who were reacting to the Mandera attack by Al-Shabaab insurgents said the police are not doing enough to combat insecurity.
Speaking to this writer in Nakuru Town, the residents blamed the police for failing to arrest the situation which they has gotten out of hand.
“Police who have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring security to Kenyans have failed in their duties.” said Emily Atieno.
“Every time innocent Kenyans are killed by terrorists. Where are the security agencies?” asked Rahab Wairimu.
The residents urged the public to cooperate with security agencies in fighting the infiltration of Al -Shabaab insurgents.
“The fight against terrorism requires combined effort by members of the public and security organs,” said Joseph Ouma.
They urged the Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku and the Inspector General of police David Kimaiyo to employ stringent and decisive measures to deal with Al -Shabaab insurgents and restore order in the country.
They also asked the government to heighten surveillance along the Kenya-Somalia border and to carry swift retaliation against the terrorists.
