Residents of Kiandutura area in Rongai Sub-county, Nakuru on Monday barricaded roads the entire day, complaining over poor roads.
The residetns complained that the timber manufacturing companies plying the Salgaa-Esikeri route have not repaired the roads in a long time.
They further said the roads become too muddy whenever it rains and re not able to ferry farm produce even during the dry season.
According to an official from Comply Timber Indstries simon Waweru, the company has been maitning roads in the area and such cases only occur during the dry season when there is a lot of dust.
“We have decided to barricade the roads and block off the vehicles that carry timber in the area, because they have damaged the road, from here to Salgaa,” said one of the demonstrators.
They further complained of the dust emanating from the dusty road, saying it is affecting their day to day lives.
“There are no hotels here, because of the dust, no one can open a hotel here. Even in our own houses, everything including the water is always covered by the dust, we cannot live like that,” added another resident.
