Speaking at Kirobon High School as he presided over the National Tree Planting Day organized by the Young Farmers Clubs of Kenya (YFCK) over the weekend, the executive said that tree planting should be the responsibility of every patriotic Kenyan.

Rop noted that environment conservation starts with simple things like tree planting.

“I want to urge Nakuru residents to take upon themselves and plant many trees as they can as we move to conserve and protect our environment,” said Rop.

The executive said that the county government will soon be launching tree planting programmes in schools and churches across the county.

He said adequate funds have been set aside to oversee tree planting programmes across Nakuru.

Rop further lauded environment clubs in schools saying that it is the first step towards environment conservation.

“I am happy that our youths have seen the need of planting trees, it is the only good thing that can be done to guarantee life for future generations,” he said.

The executive at the same time warned loggers who are logging without permits saying they risk arrest.

He said that logging is illegal and anyone found will be arrested and charges opened against him or her.
