A middle-aged lady in Nakuru was today attacked by a troop of baboons as she tried to shield a primary school pupil from one of the baboons.

The kid was badly injured and is receiving specialised treatment.

The baboons strayed from the Lake Nakuru National Park.

The lady sustained deep cuts.

''These baboons have been disturbing our peace; they have injured many people some of whom have not come out. It will reach a point where they will kill someone. We ask those who are in charge of this things should take action.'' The woman said.

The residents now want the government to take action on the baboon menace and want victims of the attacks compensated.

The incident is another illustration of the human-wildlife conflict experienced in various parts of the country.
