This comes after Nakuru public health department stroke a deal with Egerton University.

According to the county public health officer, Samuel King’ori, the deal seeks to develop biogas from the faecal sludge in the area.

Addressing journalists in his office King’ori said that the institution will establish a research centre at the town’s main sewage disposal.

“We will also create special pit latrines that have a pit lining to prevent it from sinking. It will have a special outlet where the sludge will be stored. This will make it easy for us to collect the waste,”  notes King’ori.

“We are also looking into the process of creating biogas which we will distribute and refill the gas cylinders,” added Kingori.

At the same time King’ori noted that the county government will start lining the pit latrines in the county with a brick wall to prevent frequent cases of collapsing toilets.
