Residents of Biashara Ward in Nakuru East under the umbrella Baharini Community Forum have called Nakuru county government to step in and address the conflict that is looming over contentious Ziwani estate land.

Through their chairman Maurice Otieno, the residents claim the 25 acres piece of land situated opposite Bondeni estate which had been proposed for construction of bus terminus has instead been leased to some senior people in Nakuru.

Speaking on Monday during a community forum, the residents said it was wrong for leaders to grab public land.

“The county government had good plans of creating a bus terminus on this land but information we have is that the land has now been leased to five individuals in Nakuru and that is why we are calling on leaders to rethink over the same,” said Otieno.

The residents through Baharini Community Forum vowed to write a letter to Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui to intervene over the matter.

According to them, the construction of bus terminus on the said Ziwani estate 25 acre land would have helped to decongest Nakuru town besides creating employment to thousands of youths.

“We will write to the governor over the same so that he can intervene in the matter and ensure that the residents get their right,” he said.
