Nakuru senator James Mungai is demanding an apology from governor Kinuthia Mbugua following the ejection of his county manager from a courtesy call in the governor’s office.
Mungai said that his manager had gone to represent him when the Senate committee on Roads and Transportation visited the county to establish the status of roads projects in the county.
“Disappointingly, I’ve learnt that when the committee made a courtesy call in your office in the morning hours of 9th June 2015 you asked my county office manager to vacate your office as he could not represent me at the meeting. This is a matter of grave concern as it is prone to depict malice on your part to either my county office manager or my office,” he complained in a letter to the governor.
“There was no reason whatsoever to embarrass my county office manager by ejecting him unceremoniously from the meeting. Despite the polite protestations of my Senate colleagues you insisted that he has to leave,” he noted.
Mungai pointed out that the presence of journalists and members of Kinuthia staff indicated that he wanted to discuss with the committee information that was privy to his office.
“I wish to register my strong disapproval at the way you handled the situation and the manner in which you dishonoured and ejected my county office manager from your office,” he said.
Mungai lamented that this was a move that appeared to undermine their mutual pledge to work closely with each other to ensure the success of devolution and that the resources distributed to Nakuru County met the intended purposes of catering for the needs of the people.
“I wish to seek an appropriate apology from your office to mine as my county office manager did not attend the courtesy call on his own behalf but did so as my representative,” he demanded.
