Nakuru county assembly Speaker Joel Kairu has slammed bloggers over what he termed as continued social media smear campaign directed at the assembly as an institution and the integrity of its members thereof.
This was after the county assembly received bashing from social media users following a move to impeach Finance CeC Joseph Kiuna.
Defending the assembly, Kairu said it is currently unable to properly execute its mandate of legislation, oversight and representation due to continued and unprecedented delays from the office of the Finance executive in submitting various budget documents.
Kairu said that the assembly has been frustrated by the CeC.
The Speaker said the Wednesday debate on the impeachment of the CeC was well informed and within the law.
“These, among other issues, informed the debate that took place before the House on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 11, 2018” said Kairu.
He added: “Therefore, stand guided that the assembly, which is a house of rules and procedures, will follow the legal options available to it in ensuring that the residents of Nakuru are served by the county government in the best way possible which starting with the passing of various plans and policy documents that will actualize the county’s development agenda."
