Addressing worshippers at St. Simon and Jude Catholic church in Machini, Nakuru East Ward, Kairu said he’s ready to take over from the current MP David Gikaria.

Kairu started by praising the current MP before declaring his support.

“Thank you Hon. Gikaria for inviting me to this gathering and for the opportunity to address them. We all agree that you’re an exceptional leader and your work in Nakuru East and in mentoring other leaders. The people of Nakuru Town East are proud of you and I would like to assure them that am ready to take over and continue with the good work after you,” Kairu said.

Gikaria said there should be term limits for MP.

“I had actually taken a motion to the National Assembly for Parliamentary term limits but it has never seen the light of the day. If we have term limits for the president and the governor, we also need term limits for MPs and other elected leaders to give a chance to a new crop of leaders,” Gikaria said.

On the proceedings of the Nakuru County assembly, the Speaker revealed that the house had amended the Finance bill to zero rate church buildings.

The speaker was among other leaders present at the church service which also involved a fundraiser towards the roofing the new church building.

The fundraiser was led by the Deputy President William Ruto. Also in attendance was Nakuru County Senator Susan Kihika, Women Rep Liza Chelule and other MPs.
