Nakuru County Assembly has passed its supplementary budget which was tabled by Moses Ndung’u, the budget committee chairperson, for its first reading.
Speaking to the press in Nakuru town, Ndung'u said that the delay in tabling the budget was caused by the recent wrangles experienced in the Assembly.
"The recent wrangles and misunderstanding that have been witnessed in our assembly is the main reason why we have delayed in tabling the budget. At the moment the assembly cannot afford any kind of derail when it comes to the County budget making process as there are numerous projects in the wards which needs to be completed," Ndung'u said.
He said that the supplementary budget is fully aimed at ensuring all the departments within the county which have exhausted their funds are replenished.
"By approving the supplementary budget, the county government will be able to finish all the projects that it had already started and also start new ones before the financial year ends. The budget committee fully hopes that the county assembly will approve the budget by the end of the coming week," he said.
Ndung'u denied the ongoing rumours that there are a number of MCAs who are against the whole budget.
"I urge those spreading such rumours to stop, as there is no MCA who has come out to oppose it,” he said.
