KRC allegedly owes Nakuru County more than Sh250 million in land rates which go back 10 years. The county expressed its concern over the rising debts through the assembly’s implementation committee.

Committee chairman Simon Wanyoike, who is also the Naivasha Lakeview MCA, said the committee was highly interested in the leasing of a parcel of land located near the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

“We are still investigating how the corporation leased the land despite the fact that it owed a huge debt to the county,” said Wanyoike.

The committee is also investigating how the piece of land was leased and how the initial agreement between the county and KRC was ignored.

Wanyoike was speaking at Kayole estate where he donated foodstuff and personal effects to one Hannah Waithera, who is partially paralysed.

The MCA promised to construct a house for the 56-year-old widow.
