Speaking at Nakuru Town on Friday Mwaura said constant harassment among the media fraternity will destroy the good relationship press has with the government.

“Constant harassment and intimidation to members of press infringes the media right and should stop,” said Mwaura.

“Media plays an important role in informing the public on issues concerning developments and its role,” added Mwaura.

Mwaura said that it is through media highlights that public has appreciated the nation's progress.

“The public depends on media for county's development issues and its role is of great importance,” said Mwaura.

The Mosop MCA said that issues of road infrastructure, education, health and sanitation have been covered by journalists giving the public an edge in the running of devolved units .

“Media should continue carrying on their role without intimidation,” said Mwaura.

He urged devolved units officers to work with media to make residents lives better.

“The devolved units officers should work with media in highlighting issues affecting residents but not intimidating them,” said Mwaura.

Mwaura however urged media to stick to their code of ethics and report objectively.

“ Media should be impartial in reporting and should avoid exaggeration,” said Mwaura.
