The High Court in Nakuru on Tuesday issued temporary orders stopping the allocation of the Constituency Development Fund.

The High Court issued the orders following an application by residents from Nakuru Town West who want to be included in the CDF committee.

The 24 residents said the Nakuru Town West Constituency Development Fund committee members should be stopped from allocating money from the fund claiming the appointment of the committee members was anchored in tribalism.

The Nakuru Town West Constituency Development Fund committee members have also been barred by the High Court.

The applicants want the court to issue an order to have the Kalenjin community and other communities in the area included in the appointment of CDF committee members.

The applicants who are from the Kalenjin community said their right to fair administration was violated as none of their members was appointed despite the fact that they are a dominant tribe in the area.

Area MP, Mr Samuel Arama, who is one of the three respondents in the case is said to have allegedly ignored other communities while appointing committee members.

Mr Arama was given 14 days to respond.
