The traders faulted the county government for neglecting them and failing to maintain cleanliness yet they pay taxes.

"We are operating in a filthy market that lacks a drainage system, toilets and clean water. You are the first leader to visit us so you are our only hope," Jane Wangare, a trader said as quoted by Star.

They lamented that the market is too muddy making it hard for business operations.

The traders asked county Jubilee Woman Rep aspirant Liza Chelule to assist them in solving the problem, saying it poses a serious health risk.

Chelule, who on Monday toured the market promised to unite all leaders to solve the matter and use county funds to train women on their rights.

"I have noted with concern the pathetic situation especially when it rains. When I take over as Nakuru woman rep, I will ensure these women work in a conducive environment," she said when she toured the market on Monday.

It is said that the market has been in its bad state since 2013.
