Speaking Friday at Wakulima market in Nakuru town, the traders warned that the market will soon become a dumpsite as heaps of trash and flies rule the area.

They accused the Environment ministry officials and the county government of sleeping on their jobs, saying that despite paying taxes, they were not getting the services they are entitled to.

"We pay taxes but the services rendered are too minimal,” Samuel Ochieng, a trader at the market, said.

He said heaps of trashes are all over the market and beside the roads, adding that officials concerned did not seem to care. He urged the county government to intervene before the situation worsens.

Wakulima is the largest market in Nakuru, with over 10,000 traders operating from the area daily.
