Commuters using the Nairobi-Mai Mahiu road were this morning forced to delay on the road as the truck drivers blocked the road barring vehicles and motorcycles from passing.

According to matatu drivers operating on the Nairobi-Nakuru route, areas like Gilgil, Salgaa and Kikopey have been affected but police are currently controlling the heavy traffic.

James Kimani, a Nagil driver, says he left Naivasha at 7.00 AM but it took 4 hours to reach Nakuru, a journey he says takes 1 hour only.

Salgaa traffic boss Walter Kiptala has cautioned the drivers to desist from the planned demonstrations and instead use dialogue in finding a lasting solution.

"Let your national leaders table official complaints to the national police service and have the right channels followed in finding an amicable and all-inclusive solution. Demonstrating and blocking the road risks exploding the issue further," he added.
