The Nakuru Stakeholders Forum Chairman Wycliffe Agesa Oguda said that the county has failed to deliver to the expectation of electorate in spite of the county's ability to generate wealth.

“We have no confidence in the elected leaders who are trustee of public funds. Our leaders have fallen short of integrity and transparency in utilisation of public funds,” added  Oguda.

Oguda was speaking in Nakuru Town after the release of World Bank  report of utilisation of public funds by the devolved units which showed that Nakuru County is among the poorest performing counties in the public funds.

Oguda said that county leaders should exercise high level of public integrity in  utilisation to ensure residents benefit from the county's fund.

“We expect our leaders to utilise the devolved money to provide accessible and affordable provisions of basic services like water and roads," said Oguda.

He also said that the eviction of hawkers has affected the collection of revenue even as the county government blamed poor performance due to corrupt officials involved in various scams.

Reports from the county government indicate that the Mbugua-led government has sacked six senior revenue officers following the unearthing a multimillion fake licenses printing scandal.

The criticism by the proponents comes at a time when Cabinet has approved extra billions for the devolved units from Sh228 billion to Sh248 billion.
