A sombre mood engulfed Matopeni village in Munyaka division, Nakuru County after a 60-year-old man who is said to be mentally unstable, murdered his wife following a domestic row.
The suspect, Kipkoech Sammy, is alleged to have stabbed his 54-year-old wife, Jane Chelagat after a quarrel.
Munyaka division police boss Ben Changulo confirmed the incident saying the suspect stabbed his wife with a blunt object.
Mr Changulo said the suspect is in police custody.
The couple has seven children and it is not clear whether they were within the compound at the time of the incident.
A brother to the assailant,added the officer, visited the couple's home only to find the deceased's body lying in a pool of blood.
Witnesses said the assailant's nephew had visited the family before the incident after suspecting a commotion only to be driven away by Kipkoech.
