The Nakuru Rural Water and Sanitation Company on Tuesday received a new tanker, which will assist the firm in distributing water to the area residents.
According to the Managing Director, Reuben Korir, the company can only provide water to about 40 percent of the almost 900,000 people in Nakuru.
Korir, who speaking in Nakuru while receiving the tanker from Rift Valley Water Services Company said that water was very crucial to every day’s activities, hence the need to ensure that the residents receive better services.
“All the activities depend on water, hence there was great need to ensure that there is continuous supply of the commodity,” said Korir.
He further urged the leaders to formulate laws which will help in the protection of water, and kindly requested the residents who have water bills arrears to ensure that they them for improved services.
“It is very sad seeing someone having arrears of up to 5 months and is not in a hurry to pay. I kindly ask such people to ensure that they pay so that we can at least improve the services and do some repairs on our pipes,” added Korir.
Rift Valley Water Services Company Board CEO Japheth Mutai said that the tanker will assist the water company to ensure that they have a continuous distribution of water without any difficulties.
‘This tanker will assist them to distribute water to even the furthest interior parts of Nakuru,” said Mutai.
