Nakuru town residents will soon be enjoying more clean water and better sanitation after an NGO offered to construct at least 20 boreholes in the area.
This was announced by the Nakuru Diocese Development Comitee Chairman Elijah Masira and the Cooridinator of the Water Service Fund Lawrence Ojwang at the Nakuru Catholic Diocese offices on Saturday, after the signing of a pact a head of the project that will kick off in January next year.
According to the two, the boreholes will be constructed in various marginalized areas within Nakuru town including Bondeni,Kivumbini,Muchanganyiko,Kwa Ronda,Keratina,Kaptembwa among other.
They said that the charity project would be supported by the county government to provide clean water and improve health standards of the low class populations who do not have access to a regular water supply.
“We have agreed that we will collude to dig boreholes and if possible provide piped water to residents in the areas where residents do not have access to a steady water supply. We will involve other partners and stakeholders like the county government to implement the project,’’ said Masira.
He said the project will also seek to employ youths and other citizens, and will cost an approximated amount of Sh20 million.
