A Nakuru based Non Governmental Organisation is appealing to well wishers to donate sanitary towels to girls in Nakuru West Constituency.
Victorious Teens Bridge international CEO, Ann Kibui, said that some of the girls in the area were forced to use exercise book pages during their montly periods.
Speaking to journalists at Kaptwembwa after distributing the towels to various schools in the area, Kibui said that some girls are forced to miss classes when having their monthly period.
“We are calling on well wishers to help purchase of sanitary towels to our school going girls. Most of these ladies come from poor families which can not afford to buy them the towels,” notes Kibui.
She added that some girls have been forced to drop out of school as they are uncomfortable during class time.
"Some girls take time to understand changes going on in their bodies during that time,” said Kibui urging those who near the girls to help them understand the changes.
According to Kibui most girls also did not have the inner wears, hence urging well wishers to help them.
"There is need of those who near this girls to take them through this period. You explain to them about the biological changes going on in their bodies as well as the importance of being clean since they are now grown ups," said Kibui.
