Residents of Rhonda in Nakuru are counting losses following a heavy downpour.
Several houses were swept away by floods and residents are calling on the county government to come in and assist them.
Joseph Ogembo, a resident whose houses were destroyed by the floods, says he does not know how he will repay a loan he took to set up the houses.
“I have suffered a lot with no one to help me. All my houses which I had constructed through a loan have been destroyed. I am just calling on the government to assist us,” said Ogembo.
Ogembo said the county government is yet to visit the area and asses the damage caused.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Sylvia Eng’eny who said the government should step in and address the issue of drainage in Nakuru West
“The county government must come in and address the challenge of flood water and drainage in this area lest we experience more disasters,” she said.
