Residents of Ronda Ward, Nakuru West now want the county government of Nakuru to repair the drainage system in the area to avert further loss of property through floods.
Days of torrential rains pounding the slums have left many families displaced, roads damaged and property destroyed yet the regional government is yet to come to the aid of the more than 100 families that have been affected.
Speaking during a tree planting initiative at Mwareki Primary School Monday, Victor Ngatia, a human right activist and resident of Ronda Ward accused the county's leadership of inaction.
"The situation is getting out of hand and it may lead to deaths brought about by waterborne diseases," he said.
He questioned the preparedness of the county government on natural calamities.
"If urgent interventions are not instituted, we the residents will experience disasters on a grand scale in future," he said.
Several families have been affected since the onset of rains.
