Nakuru Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto has told off a section of leaders proposing to have the county divided into two regions on allegations of skewed development in some areas.

Speaking in Nakuru on Monday, Ruto said that leaders coming up with such proposals are living in a past era.

He said that all areas in the county receive equal attention from the county government and have been receiving funds for development regardless of the tribe living there.

“I have heard some are now saying that we should divide Nakuru into two because I don’t know we have this tribe and this tribe; I am telling them that it will not happen because Nakuru is for all,” he said.

The deputy governor said that together with Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, they came up with an effective plan where all wards in the county receive sh25 million for development and implemented by order of priority.

“Nakuru is cosmopolitan and because of this, we sat with the governor and we decided that every ward should receive Sh 25 million for development. Every MCA receives his money and he prioritizes his projects in his area and implements them so there is no point in dividing the county into two,” he said.

On Sunday, a group of elders purporting to be Kalenjin elders bashed Governor Mbugua for sidelining Kalenjins in development projects.
