A Nakuru-based woman is facing multiple criminal charges in a Nakuru court after she allegedly faked having ovarian cancer in order to get donations.
Susan Wangare,43, is accused of forging hospital documents and lying about a fake cancer diagnosis to get money for treatment abroad from residents at Njoro sub-county.
The accused was arrested by police after authorities were tipped off by one of the residents who accused Wangare of faking her illness to get money and other benefits and investigations launched.
Wangare, was however not able to produce required evidence to prove that she was indeed sick and diagnosed from a recognized medical institution.
Wangare is believed to have faked her illness for at least a year, and recieved a huge sum of amount from the locals without any knowledge that she was extorting money from them.
The accused who was before Chief Magistrate Bernard Kemei on Thursday, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was later released on a bond of Sh500,000 or an alternative bail of sh.300,000.
The matter was slated for September 29 for hearing.
