Police have launched investigations into an incident in which a middle-aged woman is suspected to have aborted and dumped the foetus in a pit at Machanga area in the outskirts of Nakuru Town.

Addressing media in her office, area assistant chief Jane Muthoni, said the woman who is a mother of two is suspected to have committed the act.

She was arrested and is now under police custody at the Bondeni Police station as investigations proceed.

According to the assistant chief, the suspect tried to flee using a motorbike after the incident.

The foetus is said to be seven months old.

The chief called on parents to talk to their children in order to understand the challenges they are undergoing in life.

The foetus was taken by police to the Nakuru county Mortuary.
