The women claim they were thrown out by the county askaris, and that they had not been able to settle down after the governors directive to have them move out of the CBD.

Speaking at a meeting at the Nakuru OLD town Hall the women claimed that all the nice market spots were grabbed by the men who were working with them.

“We were pushed to several corners where business was doing very badly. When we complained they intimidated us forcing most of us to leave our jobs,” said Angela Nyarwai, one of the women.

The women cited that the county government had not considered their vulnerability when it forced them to move to the newly constructed markets.

“We want a private place where we can also sell underwear without our customers feeling intimidated anytime they come to fit their bras and panties,” Nyarwai added.

Brenda Mukami claimed that majority of the women were undergoing heavy losses as they were servicing loans.

“We have not been able to sell our products since we relocated as we have not stabilized. We hope that the government will consider making us the first beneficiaries of the Uwezo funds,” she added
