The office of the Women Representative Liza Chelule has commenced public participation forums on affirmative funds.

Speaking on Monday during such a forum at Nakuru East sub-county, the office coordinator Daniel Njogu said the aim is to help women understand about the funds.He added that they will be visiting all the sub-counties in Nakuru for the same.He also challenged women groups to register in groups and apply for the funds meant to empower them.

"The aim of this forum is to hear from you and help you access the funds," he said.

Beneficiaries were also taken through importance of the funds and savings.

Biashara Ward MCA Peter Njoroge Wanyaguthie, who also attended the forum, requested the office of the Woman Rep to organise a meeting with Deputy President for women in Nakuru.

"Biashara ward has alot of women who are in business and I request that through the Women Rep office we can have a meeting with Deputy President," he said.

Sentiments echoed by Flamingo Ward MCA Eddy Kiragu who said women play key role in Nakuru county and should be empowered.

The civic leader said already over 30 women groups have been registered.

"Women are key in society and need empowerment,"he said.

On his part, Kivumbini ward MCA Wilbur Onyango called for unity among leaders.
