Speaking to women at Nakuru town over the weekend, Mbugua said the constitution agitates for women representation in public appointments.

Mbugua added that women must be considered and treated fairly with their male counterparts when it comes to job recruitment exercises.

“I ask the Nakuru County Public Service Board to make sure that women get equal chance of men when it comes to recruitment,” she said.

She further called for equal representation of women and men on county public service committees adding that the one-third gender rule must be exercised as stipulated in the 2010 constitution.

At the same time, Mbugua wants Nakuru women to be active and seek involvement in development matters.

She said that women in the county will remain relevant if they take part in development.

The Women representative added that women have been given voice and opportunity to champion for their wellbeing.

Mbugua urged county women to take advantage of the Uwezo Fund and start business that will empower them socio-economically.
