Nakuru County Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto has encouraged youths in the county to take up sports and grow their talents.

Speaking at Melvin Jones Highs School in Nakuru, Ruto said that sports is a profession that many young people should engage in.

He said that many youths have talents which they should develop and grow for their own benefit.

“My appeal is to the young people to take sports activities seriously and better their lives,” said Ruto.

Ruto stated that the county government recognises the role of sports and has ventured into it.

He said that programmes have been launched in various Schools to help nurture young talents. The deputy governor appealed to parents and guardians to support their children in their sporting activities.

Ruto also asked the national government through the Ministry of Culture and Sports to increase funds for the sector.

He said that a lot of money is needed to run various sporting programmes and events.
