Nakuru County Deputy Executive for Agriculture Purity Muritu has urged women and youth groups in the county to venture into agri-business activities to fight poverty and unemployment.
Speaking on Friday while launching Nakuru Agribusiness Welfare Group(NABWG) at Waterburk Hotel Nakuru County Deputy Executive for Agriculture Purity Muritu noted that the county has big potentials and opportunities to excel in the sector.
“There is a great deal of opportunities in Agri-business in our county. Ready markets locally and internationally and many sources of funds and information on agribusiness management. It is therefore my view that our women and youth can improve their lives greatly if they venture in agri-business activities,” said Muritu.
“We can tap a lot of opportunities if consider expanding our agricultural activities. One way of doing this is through undergoing agribusiness management courses and seeking funds to venture into the sector,” she notes.
She said that county government is ready to support any group or individual willing to venture in the sector.
She further observed that agriculture sector contributes over 20 percent of labour force in the country.
