Nakuru County Youth Society (NYCS) chairman Steven Mungai has voiced concerns over the parastatal appointments by President Uhuru Kenyatta that were made on Monday saying youths were left out.

Speaking at a Naivasha hotel on Thursday, Mungai said the President did not consider youths in the appointments.

“We as the Nakuru youth umbrella are not happy by the recent parastatals appointments made by President Kenyatta, we were left out,” he lamented.

The NYCS chair said the President did not consider youths who he said have the expertise to run parastatals.

Mungai further said that the government promised jobs to young people and that they must be considered in search appointments.

“President Uhuru promised to engage youths in running the government, but we are not seeing that happen instead old and retired politicians are being given top jobs,” he said.

Mungai noted that youths in Nakuru still have confidence in the President that he will fulfil the employment promises.

The chair noted that lack of jobs is a big challenge to youths in Nakuru and the country at large.

Mungai at the same time asked the Nakuru government to initiate more projects that will guarantee job openings for area youths.

He also urged youths in the county to stop choosing jobs and instead do something that comes their way so long as they earn a descent income.
