Emergency medical services are offered at any instance round the clock.
To address the need for specialized treatment skills such as emergency response, starting June 2017, Tracom College made it a course to scholars seeking to demonstrate basic knowledge and skill in patient respiratory assessment, ambulance and airway management.
“Emergency Medical Technicians Training places much emphasis on Emergency Medical Care, Legal/Ethical issues, didactic material including airway management, patient assessment, and general pharmacology," Patrick Mboma, Head of Department Health and Applied Sciences said.
This makes the 24-year-old College premier in the paramedic Program.
Tracom College was incepted in the year 1993, making it among the oldest institutions in Nakuru.
Mboma said the six-month training program entails recognition and management of environmental and medical emergencies, verbal, written and radio communications to prepare the student for bandaging, splinting, back-boarding concerning injuries to the head and spine.
"Upon successful completion of the course, students should demonstrate knowledge and skills related to rescue, injuries to the musculoskeletal system, the head and spine," he said.
The College's vision says that it continues to provide quality and professional training to individuals for societal development necessary for the future.
