Labour Party boss Ababu Namwamba has called for a reprieve in the political attacks against the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission, IEBC.

“They cannot work well when they are getting criticized barely days after coming to office. It would auger well if they settle first and learn the systems before we begin condemning them,’ he said.

“They should stop this tendency of crying anyhow blaming the referee on unimaginary fears. It is bad to be throwing stones whenever we have a new commission yet we are not giving them to settle down on, “ said Namwamba.

He however urged the commission to move fast and address many of the fears touching on its preparedness to handle the August polls.

He especially said the register should be cleaned to weed out ‘dead voter from the roll,’ as part of confidence building exercise for the commission.

“Nobody is trusting the other now . And this is causing a moral crisis everywhere. County governments have now turned into the new arenas of massive corruption and nobody is willing to take a bull by its horns,” said the legislator.

“Cocaine does not know party boundaries. Every suspect should bear an individual responsibility in this regardless of political affiliation,” Mr Namwamba told the Nation by phone.

He said his party may  not field a presidential candidate in this year’s General Election but will  support any candidate who espouses what the party envisions for the country.
