Mombasa senator, Hassan Omar has rubbished reports by Budalang’i MP, Ababu Namwamba of forming a party to battle Cord in the 2017 General Elections.
The senator pointed out that this was a political gimmick to split the ODM votes.
Omar was speaking on Sunday in Kilifi where he said that Namwamba was only wasting his time with that ploy of trying to divide the Coastal people.
“The only forces we have for the 2017 election are Cord and Jubilee,” he said.
This comes after Namwamba publicly said that he would not join either Cord or Jubilee but would instead form his own party that would compete with Jubilee and Cord for the 2017 General Elections.
He urged various leaders to join him so that they could do away with the ‘oppressive’ leadership of the two parties.
''This is the time we should reawaken the bond that existed between Western Kenya and the Coast,’’ said the former ODM secretary general.
