Embattled ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba will ‘die’ politically if he ditches the party, argues Nyamira County Assembly Majority Leader Laban Masira.
The Budalang’i lawmaker has been linked with a sensational move to Labor Party of Kenya and Deputy President William Ruto’s URP in recent days.
Masira in an exclusive interview with the reporter on Tuesday admitted frustrations to the young lawmaker but warned him against ditching the party that brought him to ‘limelight’.
“I have been hearing all manner of things about Ababu and I just want to caution him against succumbing to political pressure in ODM. His future is purely in the party and those who stand steady win eventually,” Masira said.
“He needs to be strong and fight for his place in the party that brought him to the limelight. I believe in his political prowess but that could diminish if he ditches the party for our rivals,” Masira said.
However, Mr Masira took a swipe on unnamed ODM officials of allegedly frustrating Namwamba following his appointment to the powerful ODM Secretary General post.
”As strong party members we are aware of some people who are keen to see him fall and he needs strength in this trying moments. The pressure cannot and should not warrant his absence from key party functions. He must be with us,” he added.
