Mbadi on Thursday said that the party constitution requires any official who resigns to present the resignation letter to the board.

“There are structures to be followed for one to resign as an official and to this time the party has not received a resignation letter from Namwamba,” said Mbadi on phone.

Mbadi denied claims that the party has been frustrating Namwamba. He instead accused the MP of betraying the party.

The ODM chairman accused the Budalangi MP of secretly working with Jubilee and neglecting his duties as ODM Secretary General.

Namwamba announced his resignation on Wednesday citing frustrations from party top leadership.

The party vice chairman Paul Otuoma resigned last week.

There has been discontent among officials and members in ODM.

In a meeting held at the party headquarters and chaired by party leader Raila Odinga last week, party officials were warned against exposing party issues to the media.

The Orange party according to sources will hold a meeting next week to discuss Namwamba’s exit and chant way forward ahead of the 2017 general elections.

According to political analysts, Namwamba’s exit as ODM secretary general could be a big blow to party leader Raila Odinga.

Namwamba has been linked to Labour Party of Kenya.
