High Court advocate Edwin Sifuna has defended unsuccessful ‘coup’ in Orange house which he spearheaded last year, insisting that he was ‘certain’ that Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba had been ‘bought’ by Jubilee government.

Namwamba, a former ODM secretary General, bolted out of the opposition outfit and has since backed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection.

And on his Facebook post on Sunday, Sifuna defended his decision to oust Namwamba and subsequently install himself as ODM Secretary General, a move which however did not last for long.

“Sometimes last year I told people that Namwamba was being sponsored by the state. I have been vindicated by his announcement recently,” he said.

Sifuna, a staunch supporter of ODM leader Raila Odinga added: “He was wrecking the party from within and I couldn’t tolerate that. He is now a politically dead.”

Namwamba had also accused Mr Odinga of making his job as SG ‘difficult’ by working with ‘conservatives’ within the party.

Sifuna is set to battle out with Wafula Wamunyinyi for Kanduyi parliamentary seat in August.
