The 5pm incident happened as the meeting between the Budalang'i MP and youth from Teso North and South sub counties in Busia county at Hotel Levantes in Amagoro town was going on.

Namwamba had arrived at the hotel at noon to meet 2017 MCA aspirants from Teso North and South constituencies.

Security guards at the gate had to scamper for safety as the speeding truck rammed into the hotel's gate- breaking it.

The hotel is know in the region as a venue for political meetings.

No one was injured during the incident.

Traffic police officers from Malaba police station who arrived at the scene helped find an alternative route that was used by Namwamba to exit the hotel as the truck blocked the main gate.

Namwamba arrived at Amagoro in company of 50 youth from his Budalang'i constituency.

The youth donned T-shits with inscriptions 'Ababu Smart' and 'Mulembe Consciousness'.

The incident paralysed the smooth flow of traffic along the busy Bungoma-Malaba highway.

Namwamba used the occasion to criticize Attorney General Githu Muigai and MPs proposing that next year's elections be postponed.

"We want the elections to be held on August 8, 2017 and any sinister motives to change the date will be resisted at all costs," he said.

The outspoken MP is expected to hold more meetings with youth from Western region.
