The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) Board of Directors has appointed Nana Gecaga as the managing director of KICC after a competitive process.
Her appointment, said chairman Omingo Magara, will be for a period of three years effective January 2, 2017.
Prior to her appointment, Gecaga has been the corporation’s Acting managing director since April 2016.
She will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for providing leadership to the management team in the development and implementation of the Corporation’s strategic direction that will see the implementation of the National Meetings, Incentive Travel, and Conferences & Exhibitions (MICE) Strategy.
"As the acting MD, Nana led the team in the successful execution of high profile international conferences like the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), The 2nd High Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for effective Development Co-operation (HLM2) among others," said Magara in a statement on Thursday.
The Corporation will next week host the 44th session of the ACP Parliamentary Assembly and the 32nd Session of the ACP –EU conference.
Nana has a wealth of experience in PR and marketing. She has previously worked with international firms on various projects aimed at marketing Kenya globally as a preferred Tourism destination.
Prior to joining KICC she also worked as the Marketing and special programmes advisor to the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Tourism.
Ms Gecaga will be instrumental in bidding for International conferences to Kenya. In 2009 she secured the bid to host the MTV Africa Music awards in Kenya.
She will use her vast experience in International marketing to bid and position Kenya as attractive for conference Tourism also known as Meetings, Incentives Travel, Conferences and Exhibition (MICE) Tourism.
Gecaga holds a degree in Business Administration from the American Intercontinental University, London.
