Nandi County residents took to the streets Tuesday evening following the removal of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter as the chairman of Labour committee.
The Jubilee removed four rebel chairmen of House committees in an acrimonious but ruthlessly executed scheme.
MPs Keter, Silas Tiren (Marakwet East), Moiben’s Kangogo Bowen and James Gakuya (Embakasi East) were all removed in a choreographed no-confidence motions by the committees.
The angry electorate in Nandi Hills directed their blame to the Deputy President William Ruto, saying he was punishing the rebel MPs through National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale to silence vocal politicians who were fighting for citizens.
They vowed to stage several demonstrations in Nandi until Keter is reinstated as the chairman of the committee.
They said that the mass protests might spill to other Jubilee strongholds if the issue is not instantly addressed by Ruto.
At Chepkunyuk Ward Nandi Hills, a middle-aged man collapsed and fainted during the demos.
He is recuperating at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital.
