A top Nandi county official was on Friday arrested by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives following a probe on embezzlement of roughly Sh2 billion at the county.
Sh5.7 million was recovered from Roads chief Officer Alex Buingut’s house in Langas estate, Eldoret, during the raid.
Letter heads and printers belonging to the county government were also found.
Drama ensued at the EACC office in Eldoret when Buingut hurled a bottle to members of the press, to stop them from recording the proceedings.
He also locked himself inside a toilet after being allowed to go in forcing the officers to drag him out.
Police are searching for eight other officials who escaped during the raid as their houses were targeted.
