Nandi senator Stephen Sang who hopes to become the county's second governor after winning in the Jubilee primaries, has dropped Jacob Tanui as his running mate.
The hopeful governor has asked to nominate a woman to deputise him if he becomes the governor.
According to sources, Sang has settled on a University lecturer, Yunita Mitei, who hails from Mosop.
However, a section of supporters from his camp want him to appoint Tanui.
“Sang had promised to give the job to Tanui, but we are surprised that he is planning to give it to a different person,” an ally of the senator said is quoted by the Star.
The Jubilee senator will face off with two independent candidates in the gubernatorial race.
