Writing is my strongest suit, my forte, my cup of tea... I love interacting with words to paint different portraits of reality.

My fascination with writing dates back to my primary school years when I discovered that I could pen something that people could read.

Whenever my English teacher would finish marking our essays, I was sure to see her burst through the door with a stack of marked papers, pluck one out, clear her throat and say, "Nanjilah wrote a good composition, let read it out for you guys."

From that early age, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career that would keep my creative juices flowing.

I would unsurprisingly end up pursuing a Journalism course at the university because that's where my passion lies.

While at the University, I tried sending stories through email to some of the mainstream publications but only a handful were published and occasionally.

That killed my morale and, I must confess, I contemplated quitting writing.

But as fate would have it, I caught wind of an online platform called Hivisasa through a friend.

According to the friend, the platform was publishing local stories from counties from citizen journalists and, what's more, paying them for their work.

My friend encouraged me to start writing for Hivisasa.

His pitch was quite compelling and I was hooked immediately to the idea.

I opened a Hivisasa account and started sending stories.

What I earned on my first pay exceeded my expectations.

Within two days, I had earned 2000 bob.

I remember gasping in disbelief and punching the air when I received my payment through Mpesa on a Monday in the afternoon.

From then on, I focused on submitting more content to continue earning. Now I earn Sh8,000 weekly.

Thanks to the impeccable work of editors, I learned how to write engaging stuff that could attract a lot of pageviews so that I could earn more money.

I earned quite well and I managed to pay my school fees and cater for my upkeep.

Thanks to Hivisasa, my writing career that was on the brink of total collapse has got a new lease of life.

I strongly believe that through writing for Hivisasa I have become an even better writer.

Moreover, the platform has given me hope and a sense of fulfilment in life.

I find fulfilment in doing what I love and writing for Hivisasa has given me that fulfilment in spades.

I have nothing but gratitude for the opportunity to do what I am most passionate about; painting a portrait of the world around me through words.

This month will be my fourth writing for Hivisasa.

Looking back, I can, without batting an eyelid, say that writing for Hivisasa is one of the best things that has ever happened in my life.

Thanks to the platform, I now find myself on the bleeding edge of writing that has afforded me the opportunity to broadcast my work to hundreds of thousands of readers, earn money, and more importantly hone my craft.

It is a great feeling to know that I am one of the top earning Hivisasa writers.

That knowledge is not making me rest on my laurels but spurring me on to continue working hard and smart so that I can continue earning even more money.
