Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok has said he will keep on championing for more oil proceeds for the county residents.

According to the county boss, he will not relax until the residents are assured of a fair share of the oil p[roceeds.

“I will continue to defend Turkana’s right to a fair share of oil the oil proceeds. The county and national governments must work together and ensure the locals benefit. This is my main agenda,” Nanok said.

In March, Nanok criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta's government for allegedly seeking to amend the Petroleum Exploration and Production Bill to deny local communities 10 per cent oil share benefit.

"A leader's biggest responsibility is to stand by their people and defend their rights. I cannot sit back and watch while their interests are being trampled upon,” Nanok said.
