Seventy-two prisoners from Nanyuki GK have been authorized to vote in Tuesdays election.
However, only prisoners serving short sentences will be allowed to vote for the president strictly; Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA’s Raila Odinga.
Voting started at 7:30 am, according to an officer at the facility.
In other news a number of Nanyuki residents criticized the election process after discovering their names were not registered with others struggling to be identified by the KIEMS.
Another group of members known as the Makonde community are also casting votes today, after President Kenyatta authorized that they be given identity cards earlier this year.
