Days after returning to Jubilee, Taveta MP Naomi Shaban is ready to fight for the party's ticket as she seeks to defend her seat in the August 8 general election.Shaban, a staunch ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, will face off businessman Mike Baton in the Jubilee Party primaries.She had decamped from Jubilee for two days over rigging fears. However, during her return on Tuesday, she said her defection from the party was a ‘protest message’.Early this year, she rescinded her decision to retire from politics citing pressure from her constituents who want her to continue with her good work.In Mombasa county, focus is on the woman representative's seat which has attracted six contestants namely; Margaret Kisiengo, also known as Ambasa, veteran politician Amina Abdalla, Elizabeth Kadzo, Miraj Abdurahman, Grace Wasai and Khadija Muhsim.Deputy Governor Hazel Katana will face off businessman Abubakar Swabir for the Mombasa Jubilee senatorial ticket.In Changamwe, the battle for the party ticket will see four aspirants square it out. They are businessman Abdi Mohmamed, Kibwana Athman, Patrick Ngugi and former councillor Francis Oduor.In Lamu County, there will be renewed political rivalry between Senator Abu Chiaba and county assembly speaker Mohamed Hashim.According to the Standard, the two first met during the 2002 general election where Chiaba defeated Hashim to clinch the Lamu East seat.Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, his Tana River counterpart Hussein Dado, Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro and Mombasa governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal don’t have opponents for the Jubilee ticket.
