ANC party's Morris Mutiso has filed a petition at Voi High Court contesting Naomi Shaban's election as the Taveta MP.

Mutiso came a close second in the election after garnering 11,135 votes against Shaban's 11,322.

He has accused Shaban of using officials from the provincial administration during her campaigns against the law.

“The wishes of Taveta people were that we win this election. However, many challenges occurred and impunity took centre stage," he said. "The voice of the people must be heard," he added.

“There was impunity in the whole election process. Voters were bribed and treated by her. All government agents including chiefs and senior sub-county administration officials were used to campaign and ensure Shaban won."

He was speaking to the press Thursday evening after he filed the petition.
